Kakano Syndicate Assembly Led by Room 2

On Friday the 9th March, Room 2 led the Kakano Syndicate Assembly.

Using the microphone, each class member stood up and demonstrated the Te Reo Maori they had been learning, by performing their Mihi; a greeting which passes on information by way of an introduction.  This included their school, class and their name.

Room 2 displayed the wonderful artwork they have been creating with collages of kowhai trees and koru symbols.

Room 2 'Welcome Certificates' were given out to the three new entrant pupils Lea, Nelly and Bella.  Kakano Syndicate Certificates were given out to Sol, Jaisleen and Carter for their sterling efforts in Room 2 over the last two weeks.

Room 2's fabulous learners!

First day of school January 31st with our special Kowhai tree and a 'grown up' Kowhai tree behind us in the Garden Grove.
Our syndicate name Kakano has come from the centre of our school emblem which shows the growth of a seedling.  Like a seedling, our children need to be nurtured and we want to provide an environment where they will all be successful learners. To symbolise our children growing and nurturing their  learning we have a kowhai tree in our class which we water, care for and watch grow.

Room 2 Newsletter Term 1
Kia ora koutou, welcome to Room 2.
I hope you and your family have had an enjoyable break. I am very excited about our programme this term and look forward to our learning journey ahead.
This is my sixth year at Central School after teaching previously at Awapuni and Ilminster Intermediate. I have two wonderful children, Hamish who is 5 and Bella who is 2.
Each night your child will bring home a guided reading book. Please ensure that your child reads their guided reader to you every night and their home learning book is signed (this is also a good place to write any notes to me that you have).
As part of our reading programme we visit the Library every Friday. Your child will choose a book of their choice to take home and share with you. Please make sure the library book is returned by the  following Friday  in order for them to get a new one.
I am sure we will have a fantastic year, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Regards, Hayden Swann
